Eight defendants who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence charges were sentenced by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II on Tuesday.

No IPP

Jordan Michael Charles Marsh, 26, of Palmerton, had his request for placement in the IPP rejected by the court and was sentenced to serve 30 days to six months in prison.

Marsh was arrested on Dec. 24, 2017, by state police at Lehighton along Route 443 in Mahoning Township. A test revealed a 0.19 BAC. He also pleaded to two summary motor vehicle code violations.

In rejecting the IPP request, Nanovic noted that Marsh had rear-ended another vehicle with his and then fled the scene with the victim following him. He was eventually stopped by Lehighton police and turned over to state police. Marsh was recently sentenced in Schuylkill County on another DUI count to serve 72 hours to six months in prison. He has already served the jail term.

Nanovic also ordered Marsh to pay a fine of $1,500, his license was suspended for a year and he must make restitution of $70.16 to the victim. On the two summary offenses he was fined a total of $50 and costs.

He will begin the jail term on March 22 at 5 p.m. and serve it on consecutive two-day weekends. The term runs consecutive to his Schuylkill County sentence.

Michael Aaron Knecht, 27, of Easton, had his request for IPP treatment also denied by the court and was sentenced on two DUI counts.

On the first count he was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, and on the second 90 days to 60 months with the terms running concurrently. He was given credit for 28 days spent in an inpatient rehabilitation program. He must also pay fines totaling $2,500 and license suspensions of 30 months.

He was arrested on the first DUI on Aug. 27, 2016, along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. The second offense occurred on Aug. 15, 2018, at the intersection of routes 209 and 443 by Lehighton police. In both incidents tests revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He will begin the jail term at 10 a.m. on March 29 and serve it on consecutive two-day weekends. He has 62 days to serve.

Darius S. Clark, 24, of Albrightsville, also had his request for placement in the IPP rejected, and was sentenced on two DUI counts. On the first count he was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months and on the second 90 days to 60 months, with the terms running concurrently. He must also pay fines totaling $2,500 and license suspension of 30 months.

His first arrest occurred on April 4, 2015, by Kidder Township police along Route 903. In that case he was previously placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked when he was arrested on the second count on Dec. 27, 2017, along Buckhill Road in Penn Forest Township, by state police at Fern Ridge. In both cases tests revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was given credit for three days on the first count and paroled. He began serving the 90-day term immediately.

Other cases

Clayton Randal Olmstead, 28, of Bethlehem, was placed in the IPP. He was sentenced to serve 30 days in jail followed by 59 months in the IPP with the first 60 days spent on electronic monitoring. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,500 and license suspended for 18 months. On a summary offense he was fined $300 and costs.

He was arrested on Jan. 3, 2018, by state police at Lehighton along Forest Inn Road in Lower Towamensing Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He will begin serving his jail term at 5 p.m. on March 22 and serve it straight.

Stephanie Roman, 34, of Freeland, was sentenced to serve 30 days in jail followed by 59 months in the IPP with the first 60 days on electronic monitoring. She must also pay a fine of $1,500 and license suspended for 18 months. She was given credit for 30 days spent in an inpatient rehab program and does not have to serve any jail time.

She was arrested on Oct. 2, 2017, along Delaware Avenue by Palmerton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Carlos Daniel Gonzalez, 21, of Emmaus, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail and pay a fine of $1,000 and a one-year license suspension.

He arrested on March 27, 2018, by Palmerton police at Lafayette Avenue. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Gonzalez is currently an inmate in the Lehigh County prison on a pending parole violation. He will serve the 72 hours in Carbon before being returned to Lehigh.

Harry Kuhlman Stahl, 45, of Nazareth, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000 and license suspended for a year. He was given credit for 22 days spent in an inpatient rehab program and paroled.

He was arrested on April 17, 2018, by Nesquehoning police along Railroad Street. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Stefone Leisure, 33, of Lansford, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000 and a one-year license suspension.

He arrested on May 21, 2016, along Delaware Avenue by Palmerton police. A test revealed a 0.12 BAC. He was previously placed in the ARD program but revoked for violating conditions.

He will begin serving the jail term at 10 a.m. on April 5.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
