Driver eludes police after interstate chase

State police at the Frackville barracks attempted to stop a vehicle for a Motor Vehicle Code violation at 6:40 a.m. March 27, but the driver eluded police.

Police said they tried to pull over the 1998 Ford Explorer that was traveling southbound on the interstate in Mahanoy Township, but the driver fled.

The vehicle exited the interstate at the Frackville exit, proceeded through the borough and was found in a wooded area.
