Bethany EC Church

Bethany EC Church, 222 North St. holds Sunday worship at 10:45 a.m. with the Rev. Jeff Stansbury, pastor.

Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. with classes for all ages, including adult Bible study class; fellowship time, 10:15 a.m.; preschool nursery available and Jr. Church provided for children in kindergarten through sixth grade.

Wednesday: Lenten services (through April 17) at 7 p.m.

Thursday: Men’s Bible study at McDonald’s, 5:15 a.m.; choir rehearsal, 7 p.m.

Friday: Wrapped in Prayer Ministry, 7 p.m.

Crossroads Community Church

Crossroads Community Church, 580 Coal St., holds Sunday worship service with Pastor Kevin McGraw. It is a place for a fresh start with God.

Adult Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.; contemporary worship service at 10:30 a.m. with nursery available; children’s Sunday school at 11 a.m.; fellowship following service.

Tuesday: Adult Bible study at 6:30 p.m., currently studying the book of 1 Thessalonians.

Prayer Shawl Meeting: 1 to 3 p.m. April 16 in the church kitchen. Anyone is invited who would like to get together to work on projects. The meetings are also for those who would like information on making the shawls. We are currently looking for people to crochet or knit lap robes and shawls. The yarn is provided and can be picked up at the church. Prayer shawls and lap robes may be requested for anyone in need of comfort (not limited to members of this congregation). Book Club: 6:30 p.m. April 16 in the family room. We are reading “Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman’s Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia” by Elizabeth Gilbert. Everyone is welcome.

Maundy Thursday Worship Service: Holy Thursday, 7 p.m. April 18 with Holy Communion in fellowship hall and then sanctuary.

Easter Vigil: 6:30 p.m. April 20 “Come As You Are.”

Resurrection (Easter) Sunday: 6:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. April 21 with Holy Communion at both services. Continental-style breakfast follows the 6:30 a.m. service.

St. John’s Cemetery Association: requests that all Christmas decorations please be removed from the cemetery by April 15.

Trinity highlights

First Saturday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., is at 5 p.m. Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins at 9:30 a.m. Gluten-free wafers are available to those with allergy issues. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Vicar Richard Bergen assists. Coffeehouse fellowship is at 10:30 a.m.

Sunday church school for students ages 3 through sixth grade start at 10:45 a.m.

The final midweek Lenten worship with Holden Evening Prayer and psalm devotion is at 7 p.m. April 10. Simple soup supper precedes worship at 6 p.m.

The worship schedule for Holy Week: April 14, Palm Sunday, 9:30 a.m. worship with Holy Communion and distribution of palm fronds. April 18, Maundy Thursday, 7 p.m. worship with Holy Communion; fifth-grade students receive their First Holy Communion. April 19, Good Friday, 7 p.m. Tenebrae worship. April 21, Easter, 9:30 a.m. worship with Holy Communion, 10:45 a.m. Easter breakfast.
