Published April 04. 2019 01:12PM

The Eldred Township supervisors approved a set of rules to be displayed at Mock Park on Wednesday evening. The rules will be posted on signs at the park entrances.

The rules are:

• Park is open one half-hour after dawn until one half-hour before dusk

• The following are prohibited in the park:

Alcoholic beverages, bicycles, fires, horses, hunting, littering, motorized vehicles and smoking

• All pets must be on a leash

• Carry out what you carry in

The board will also consider adding additional signs in the future related to video surveillance and the prohibition of swimming in areas off the trails near the creek.

The supervisors also voted to change insurance carriers for employee health insurance. By changing from the current Blue Cross Platinum plan to a Geisinger PPO plan, the township will save money.

“The plans are comparable and none of the employees will have to change doctors and there is no deductible,” Supervisor Joann Bush said. “Once we get the package we will send it to the union to review.”

The Planning Commission noted in its report that a letter has been sent to the supervisors regarding a response to the use of biosolids in the township. The supervisors were not prepared to discuss the letter and tabled it until the next meeting.

The supervisors agreed to send a letter in support of Chestnuthill Township’s request for a multimodal grant for the replacement of the Silver Valley Road Bridge.

The supervisors took a few minutes from the meeting to recognize Charles William Smith II on his being awarded the rank of Eagle Scout. Smith rebuilt the rear porch of the American Legion in Gilbert as his Eagle Scout project.
