Lehighton accepts portable classrooms

Published April 09. 2019 12:35PM

Portable classrooms at a former Lehighton Area School District elementary building will be used for public safety training.

Borough council unanimously agreed last week to accept the classrooms located at the former Shull-David building from the school district.

The portable classrooms will be used by the borough’s fire department and police department.

Borough fire Chief Pat Mriss said the classrooms will be a welcome addition.

“It will give us something to train with,” Mriss said.

After the meeting, borough Manager Nicole Beckett said they had discussed other classrooms from the middle school, however, were concerned of the condition and relocation of them.
