East Penn home saved when fire breaks out in shed
A quick response by firefighters saved a home in East Penn Township after a fire broke out at a shed Tuesday evening.
Township fire Chief Bob Kleintop said the fire broke out about 6:30 p.m. at a shed at 2342 Mahoning Mountain Road.
When firefighters arrived, Kleintop said they encountered “a large shed burning with heat impinging on the house.
“There were high winds at the time,” Kleintop said. “We protected the house, attacked the shed.”
Kleintop said the shed is a total loss.
He said the homeowners were home at the time, but that there were no injuries.
Kleintop said the cause of the fire was debris burning and started the brush around the shed on fire.
He said firefighters remained on scene for about 2½ hours.
Also assisting at the scene were the Mahoning Valley Fire Department and West Penn Fire Company.
