Schuylkill Commissioners Honor Donate Life Month
During a meeting Wednesday, the Schuylkill County Commissioners honored National Donate Life Month. From left are Commissioner Gary Hess, Samantha Garvey of the Gift of Life Donor Program, Chairman George Halcovage, heart transplant recipient Ron Boris of Lake Wynonah, and Commissioner Frank Staudenmeier. Garvey said that currently 114,000 people are on the national transplant waiting list, and more than 5,000 men, women and children in the Gift of Life Donor Program region are awaiting a lifesaving transplant.
