Storms knock out power to thousands in Pennsylvania
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Severe storms moving across Pennsylvania overnight have knocked out power to tens of thousands of customers.
Nearly 38,000 customers of the state’s major utilities are without power Monday morning. PPL was hardest hit, reporting outages throughout its coverage area in central and eastern Pennsylvania.
The National Weather Service issued a series of tornado and flood watches and warnings as wind-whipped thunderstorms knocked down trees and produced torrential rain early Monday. There were no immediate reports of any twisters touching down.
High winds and falling temperatures are forecast for Monday.
