Man charged with assault

John J. Dematte IV, 51, of Mahoning Township has been charged with aggravated assault (felony); and two counts of simple assault (misdemeanor).

Police received a report of an assault that occurred on Saturday at a residence on 443.

Dematte was taken into custody Thursday on a warrant in Franklin Township.

He was arraigned and placed in the Carbon County Prison in lieu of $100,000 straight bail.
