Trucker dies in Monroe crash
A trucker from Illinois was killed Wednesday morning when his rig crashed and caught fire on Interstate 80 in Pocono Township, Monroe County.
State police said Adeyemi Adeolu, 43, of Richton Park was in a crash at mile marker 293.6. He was traveling east in the right lane in a Kenworth tractor-trailer and left the road, hitting a guide rail with the right front bumper and wheel.
He continued into a ditch and struck several trees.
Adeolu was ejected and was found lying on the grass outside the cab. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Interstate 80 eastbound was closed between mile marker 293 and 298 for nearly two hours, reopening at 11 a.m.
State police were assisted at the scene by St. Luke’s EMS, Pocono Township Volunteer Fire Department, Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department and Schliers Towing.
