Tamaqua man faces charges for threatening responders

A Tamaqua man is facing charges after emergency crews said he threatened them.

Dennis Walter Helfrich, 48, of Tamaqua, has been charged with terroristic threats and persistent disorderly conduct. Tamaqua police responded April 24 to the Tamaqua Ambulance building, along North Railroad Street, for an irate man who was making threats. The emergency responders said that Helfrich yelled at them, “You guys are all public enemy and I’ll shoot all of you.”

Helfrich had numerous contacts with police throughout the day for reports that he was disturbing the public.
