A look back: May 10, 1972

The Palmerton Area School Board accepted the retirement letter of Conrad Wilker, high school principal, last evening during a regular session held in the Palmerton Middle School.

Wilker, who had been associated with the district for the past 41 years, served as a teacher, guidance counselor and vice principal.

In his letter, he stated he wanted to devote more time to other activities and thanked the board for past associations and expressed wishes for “continued policies of sound education.”

The retirement is effective July 1.

The board also accepted the resignation of John Goodman as a vocal music director.
