Carbon wants to move booth in parking lot

Published May 17. 2019 01:07PM

Carbon County officials are hoping to finally move the parking lot booth back to its original spot.

On Thursday, Commissioners’ Chairman Wayne Nothstein said that they have been trying since January to get it moved from the current location, which happened several years ago due to the Route 903 bridge construction.

The holdup during previous attempts was because of a railroad inspector not being on site or PPL not being there because electrical lines need to be moved.

“It’s frustrating,” Nothstein said. “We do want to get the booth moved.”

He said the move will hopefully occur next week.

In other parking lot matters, Nothstein said that the county is planning to extend the lighting in the county owned parking lot at the far end of the lot.

The county commissioners also approved two change orders for the storage facility project that will house the maintenance equipment.

The first change order with F.J. Lesher of Palmerton that extends the completion date April 30 to May 31 due to delays to PPL to energize the facility.

The second change order is with Larry McCullion and Son Electrical of Summit Hill for additional wiring costs and relation of utility pole guy wire as required by Reading and Northern Railroad.

The order increases the contract by $2,805 to $69,800 and extends the completion date to May 31.
