Missing gold bars found at property

State police at the Lehighton barracks said a previous report of $7,800 worth of gold bars having been stolen from a Towamensing Township residence turned out to be unfounded after the bars were discovered.

Police reported previously that a Palmerton manreported the bars were stolen from his residence between Aug. 26 and Sept. 16.

Police said they were informed on Oct. 11 that the bars were recovered. The owner reported they were never stolen, but misplaced in the residence, police said.
