Ametek Chemical Products Division in Nesquehoning recently presented an $8,000 check to the Nesquehoning Hose Company No. 1.

Ametek officials said they appreciate the hard work and dedication of the volunteers of Nesquehoning Fire Company, which has been in operation for more than a century.

The donation will help the department update its foam trailer, one of four in the county. The trailer carries 250 gallons of AR-AFF foam, 100 gallons of HX foam, application devices and gauges, all items that will assist the firefighters put out fires in the communities they serve.

Previous donations from the Ametek Foundation were used for mechanical and truck body repairs, loan payments for a new aerial truck, LED lighting, updating of 2002 KME engine compartments, as well as upgrades for fire hose lines and the purchasing of stabilizing equipment.

The Ametek Foundation has served since 1960 as the principal funding entity for the charitable contributions of Ametek Inc.

The foundation, which supports a wide range of programs and initiatives in communities where Ametek’s employees live, work, and volunteer, places a special emphasis on programs that support education, health and welfare, civic and social service programs and arts and culture.
