Police investigate two crashes

State police at Hazleton reported investigating a one-vehicle crash about 9:08 a.m. on May 20 along Route 93 at the intersection with Brenkman Drive, in Packer Township, Carbon County. It was one of two crashes troopers released information.

• Troopers said Alexander T. Smith, 25, of Lehighton, was driving a 2015 Nissan Versa northbound at a unsafe speed when he failed to recognize a school bus entering the intersection. Smith applied his brakes and swerved to avoid a collision. Smith then lost control of his vehicle which struck the guard rail on the opposite side of the road, where it came to rest.

Smith was not injured. The Nissan was towed. Smith was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.

• The second crash occurred at 7:48 p.m. May 19 in Hazle Township, along Front Street. Details of the crash were not released. The driver involved were identified as Quincy E. Foose, 40, of Barnesville, who had three passengers, Seth Herring, 21, of Barnesville, and two girls, ages 12 and 14, from Hazle Township. No injuries were reported.
