Route 443 in Mahoning Township was closed Saturday night as fire crews worked to remove nails from the roadway.

The incident began shortly after 9 p.m. when it was reported traffic had stopped along the highway at the intersection with Springhouse road. It appears a bucket or barrel of nails was dropped on the road. Mahoning Valley firefighters were using brooms and leaf blowers in an attempt to remove the nails.
