A look back: June 4, 1993
A Banks Township man on Thursday was named to head the Carbon County Office of Planning and Development. The hiring came on a 2-1 vote.
Frederick P. Osifat of Tresckow will begin the duties on June 21 at a salary of $30,000. He succeeds James Carroll of Jim Thorpe, who resigned the post earlier this year to accept a job in the private sector.
Commissioners Dean D.W. DeLong and John D. Mogilski voted in favor of the appointment while board member Thomas C. Gerhard cast a “nay” vote.
The new planning director comes to Carbon with a wealth of experience in engineering and architecture, holding an engineering degree from the Pennsylvania State University.
