A 39-year-old Tamaqua man has been charged with indecent assault and corruption of minors for reportedly inappropriately touching a 15- year-old girl.

Tamaqua Police received a complaint from the victim and her father on Sept. 19. The victim said Adam Burne of Race St., Tamaqua, had touched her inappropriately.. She noted they were friends who hung around together a lot, but she told him she didn't want to spend time with him about three weeks earlier.

In the Sept. 16 incident, they were both with a group of friends when he touched her private parts. He was also following her around and sitting outside her house, causing her to fear for her safety.

The victim's father told officers he was aware that Burne liked to "slap his daughter on the butt." He didn't report it, but did tell Burne to stay away from his house and daughter after suspecting the man of stealing the girl's underwear.

Burne was arraigned before District Judge Stephen Bayer on Friday. Bail was set at $10,000 unsecured.
