A look back: June 19, 1967
The newly constructed Christ Lutheran Church, Christmans, Penn Forest Township, was dedicated yesterday afternoon with more than 250 people in attendance. The new church replaces the quaint clapboard chapel that was destroyed by fire on April 22, 1966.
Much of the work in rebuilding the church was done by about 45 members and friends of the congregation. It was estimated the work saved the congregation about $45,000. When completed, the church will have a cost of about $60,000.
The Rev. Dr. W.R. Siegart of Summit Hill, supply pastor, presided at the dedication. The Rev. Dr. Francis Shearer, former pastor, preached the sermon.
