A look back: June 20, 2006
A proposed “field of dreams” probably won’t be brought to Mahoning Township.
Last night, the Mahoning Township Zoning Hearing Board rejected by a 2-0 vote a proposal to erect a multiuse sports complex, which would have included a large air dome structure, in a field off Mill Road.
Connie A. Blauch and Michael T. McConville presented the request for the variance to construct the complex in what is zoned a residential area.
Zoning board members Gerald Strubinger and Eleanor Michalik voted to reject the variance, but attorney Joseph Matika, their lawyer, indicated there is a possibility he would challenge the township’s zoning ordinance on his clients’ behalf.
