Lansford man charged after fleeing from police
Timothy E. Keiper, 27, of Lansford, is facing multiple charges filed against him by borough police following an incident after an incident at 4:48 p.m. June 17 in the area of the Lansford Swimming Pool.
He is charged with flight to avoid apprehension, prohibited offensive weapons, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additionally, police said they learned an outstanding warrant for Keiper’s arrest had been issued to state parole authorities.
Police said they were summoned to the 400 block of W. Patterson Street to investigate an assault that happened there. A man and a woman who were involved in the altercation had left the scene.
Police later observed the two people walking westbound on the path adjacent to the pool’s parking lot. Police said Keiper was requested to stop but he ran off, leading police on a chase towards Boyer’s store and the Soap Werks Car Wash, where police eventually caught him.
Police said Keiper discarded a blue-colored cloth clinch bag that was recovered, as well as a tan-colored leather Slap Jack, a baton-style weapon considered to be a prohibited offensive weapon. Police also found two hypodermic needles and a smoking pipe that contained burned residue.
