Planning commission: Wendy’s plans need some work
Plans for a Wendy’s restaurant in Mahoning Township need some work, Carbon officials said Tuesday.
During the monthly meeting of the county planning commission, Ivan O. Meixell, county planner, reviewed preliminary plans for a Wendy’s at 990 Blakeslee Blvd. Drive East, but recommended to the commission that no recommendation be made, rather their comments be sent to Mahoning Township for inclusion in the municipality’s discussion on the project.
The proposed land development is by Narendra V. and Dina N. Ambani, owners; and Wen-Lehighton Partners LLC, developers. It calls for constructing a 2,735-square-foot restaurant at the site of the former Dr. Ambani’s office.
Meixell outlined 18 items in the plan that don’t conform to Mahoning Township’s land development ordinance, including things not included on the plans, stormwater and storm drainage calculations not submitted, erosion and sediment pollution control plans, highway occupancy and NPDES permits required, and certificates of approval by Mahoning Township planning commission and board of supervisors needed.
The plan review notes now go to Mahoning Township and its engineer to include in further discussions.
Meixell noted that the plan will eventually come before the county planning commission again.
Other matters
In other business, the planning commission reviewed two additional plans.
• A minor subdivision at 200 W. Mill St., Nesquehoning, owned by Elizabeth A. Lisella, received conditional plan rejection. The plans call for subdividing a lot into two lots with one of those lots being conveyed to the borough of Nesquehoning.
• No recommendation was made on the Canyon Rim Estates Residential Plan, Jake Arner Farms LLC plan, which calls for a proposed agritourism residential/camping area with winery on top of Flagstaff Mountain in Jim Thorpe. The commission reviewed the plan and sent its review to the borough to be included with its review.
