Two Carbon County inmates have decided to walk away from their sentences while they were out on work release.

Nesquehoning police are looking for Terry Lynn Phillips Jr., 44, of East Water Street, Lansford; and Dylan Brett Danko, 27, of North First Street, Lehighton; after both men failed to return to Carbon County Correctional Facility after their days at work through the work release program.

When found, Danko and Phillips will face a felony escape charge and could get an additional seven years in prison on the charge.

In the Danko case, the affidavit filed by officer Timothy Wuttke, on June 10, work release director Frank Shubeck contacted police at approximately 6:30 p.m. about Danko not returning to the jail at the end of his shift at 3 p.m. It was Danko’s first day out on work release.

Wuttke spoke with another work release inmate, who said that Danko requested to use his phone to call his girlfriend at the end of the work day. Danko then left the business he was working at and never returned.

Police attempted to locate Danko but was unable to do so.

In the Phillips case, patrolman Carl Breiner was called to the prison on May 21 and spoke with Shubeck, who said Phillips was due to report back to the prison at 2:30 p.m. on May 20 but never showed.

Phillips had been incarcerated for a probation violation stemming from charges of theft and simple assault.

Shubeck said Wednesday at the Carbon County Prison Board that both men had two months or less left on their sentences at the time they walked away and stressed that he would like to see stiffer punishments given for inmates who walk away from the program.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of either of these men, they are asked to call Nesquehoning police at 570-669-9111.

Two months left to their sentences and now they're facing 7 years in state. They suffer from terminal stupidity!
