A look back: July 8, 1988

Walter J. Zlomsowitch, 53, of New Mahoning, Lehighton R.2, is the newest member of the Mahoning Township Board of Supervisors, having been appointed to that position Wednesday night to fill the unexpired term of David Pollock, who resigned from the board in June.

Zlomsowitch’s appointment came on a unanimous vote of Chairman Timothy M. Eckhart and Supervisor Charles R. Eidem. The new board member will serve through Dec. 31, 1989.

In making the motion to appoint Zlomsowitch, Eckhart said he favored him over the other applicant, Franklin Althouse, because he “ran for office the last time and attends every meeting there is.”
