State police at Stroudsburg
State police at Stroudsburg reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers on Monroe County roads.
• A crash was reported at 8:13 p.m. on June 29 along Route 209 in Hamilton Township. Troopers said Jada S. Lilly, 21, of Mount Pocono, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu northbound when the vehicle struck a rock embankment along the right side. Upon impact, the vehicle spun 360 degrees and returned to the right lane of travel. During the rotation, the vehicle struck the embankment again, causing disabling damages.
Lilly and her passenger, Jenae L. Lilly, 18, of Pocono Summit, sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene by West End ambulance personnel. Lilly was cited for the crash.
• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 5:38 a.m. along Interstate 80 eastbound in Stroud Township. Troopers said Matthew S. Hoppe, 29, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2015 Ford F150 truck in the left lane while Douglas L. Bell, 65, of Clearfield, Clearfield County, was driving a 2018 Peterbilt box truck in the right lane. Hoppe lost control of his vehicle in heavy rain and traveled into the right lane and struck Bell’s truck on the driver side rear bumper area with the passenger side front of his truck. After impact, the Ford continued to travel in the right lane and onto the shoulder, where it struck a concrete barrier. After impact, the box truck traveled off the right shoulder and came to a stop.
No injuries were reported. The Ford had to be towed. Troopers cited Hoppe for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
