Skirmish Paintball to host Invasion of Normandy
This weekend, Skirmish Paintball in Albrightsville will host over 4,000 paintball players during its annual Invasion of Normandy competition.
“It’s the biggest event in paintball,” says Skye Fogal of Skirmish.
The event, which began in 2004, attracts players from “40 states and (several) different countries.”
Last year, there were 4,036 players and a thousand spectators, plus “the largest vendor show in the world of paintball,” Fogal said.
Most players camp on site, while many also stay at local hotels and in rentals.
The event starts today with free castle night games, with the big scenario battle being held this Saturday with teams of “Allied” soldiers storming of the beaches. It runs until Sunday.
A big choice for players is, to attack the beaches with the Allied troops to keep the Axis from advancing, or help the Axis forces keep the Allies from advancing?
The winner of this battle sets the theme of the fall event on Oct. 19 — either The Battle for Britain if the Axis wins, or The Battle for Berlin.
The October event attracts between 1,000 and 2,000 players, depending on the weather.
