A look back: July 18, 1969
The Nesquehoning Borough Council, meeting in regular session last night, accepted an agreement with Mrs. Angelina Cerchiaro concerning the New Columbus Park. Cerchiaro has donated a piece of land to the borough adjacent to the park to be used for the proposed park project.
The park is located in New Columbus and is a block between Columbus and Garibaldi avenues. The land is approximately 120 by 270 feet and was donated by Cerchiaro in memory of her late husband. It is to be named the John F. Cerchiaro Memorial Park.
Under the agreement, it is to be used only for recreational purposes, with the borough to apply for state funding to improve it.
