Carbon County court – ARD

Eight first-time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Thursday by Judge Steven R. Serfass.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete the program, or are revoked from it, they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

All were placed on driving under the influence charges for a year with conditions.

Mariam Daly Contes, 27, of Hazleton, was arrested on July 7, 2018, along First Street by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

She was assessed $550 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and license suspension of 60 days.

Steven A. Fiedler Jr., 22, of Summit Hill, was arrested on March 17 by Lehighton police along Route 443. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and license suspended for 60 days.

Linsey Ann German, 36, of Palmerton, was arrested on March 10 along Third Street in Palmerton by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.28 BAC.

She was assessed $550 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 60 days.

Briso Nelson Hernandez, 31, of Beaver Meadows, was arrested on March 21 along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed a 0.22 BAC.

He was assessed $550 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Sara E. Hernandez, 31, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on Nov. 22, 2018, along Center Street by Jim Thorpe police. She refused a test.

She was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 60 days.

Andrew David Lesher, 38, of Palmerton, was arrested on March 8 by state police at Lehighton along Route 248 at Bowmanstown. A test revealed a 0.13 BAC.

He was assessed $500 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 30 days.

Donald Paul Ludwig, 20, of New Ringgold, was arrested on March 8 along Route 443 by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 90 days.

Cory John Wensel, 43, of Palmerton, was arrested on Feb. 27 by state police at Lehighton along Oak Street in Parryville. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
