Carbon County commissioners

Carbon County Commissioners, on Thursday, acted on the following items:

• Area Agency on Aging Advisory Board: Approved the resignations of Brian P. Harrison and Genie Marie Boyd; the appointment of Helene Kennedy, district manager for the Social Security Administration of Hazleton to a two-year community representative; and the reappointments of Pastor Sharon Frye and Jean Zimmerman as community representatives and Sandra Gallagher, consumer representative, to two-year terms to June 30, 2021. Also approved Joseph Sebelin and Virginia Tatusko as community representatives and Marveline Costenbader, Anthony DiMiceli, Grace Riggio and Diane Luedtke, consumer representatives for one-year terms to June 30, 2020.

• Ratified a proposal with Johnson Controls Inc. of Allentown for HVAC repairs at the county administration building at a cost of $4,867.

• Approved an application for $20,000 available for the Pennsylvania Counties Risk Pool Loss Prevention Grant to be used toward the purchase of a new camera system at the Carbon County Correctional Facility.

Personnel

• Resignation: Brendan J. Carroll of Jim Thorpe, lifeguard, effective July 25.

• Prison Board appointments: Tammy L. Cooks and Drake A. Leighton, both of Lehighton, part-time corrections officers/Teamsters; and Kimberly A. Hopfer of Palmerton and Zachary A. Kindt of Lansford, part-time corrections officers, all effective Aug. 5.

• Hire: Shadimon L. Navarro of Whitehall, county caseworker I, Children and Youth Services, effective Aug. 12.

• Change of status: Karen Lillo of Jim Thorpe, from part-time legal secretary, district attorney; to department clerk III, court administration, effective Aug. 12.
