Driver almost hits cruiser; facing DUI

Jose Saez, 28, of McAdoo, was cited by McAdoo police after a traffic stop on Sept. 24

It was midnight when a patrolman was driving south on Route 309. As he approached Jackson Street, a black Honda Pilot turned on to Kennedy Drive, almost striking the police cruiser. The crash was only averted by the officer's defensive driving moves.

The officer turned around and stopped the Honda, which was being driven by Saez.

A strong odor of alcohol came from the Pilot and the driver admitted his license was suspended. He failed field sobriety tests.

Saez was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license and traffic violations.
