ALLENTOWN(AP) — Authorities say a train derailment in eastern Pennsylvania sent several cars off the track, including one that split in half, but no injuries were reported.

Capt. John Christopher of the Allentown fire department said the train was being operated remotely at the time of the 12:10 p.m. derailment just east of the Norfolk Southern Railroad terminal.

The derailment took down a telephone pole carrying fiber-optic lines. A Verizon crew was at the scene.

Christopher said the damaged car was carrying very small plastic beads used for soda and water bottles. Another car off the tracks was carrying lumber.
