A look back: Aug. 15, 1956
A six-man delegation from Lehighton today discussed arrangements for requesting a loan from the newly set up PA Industrial Development Authority, seeking a loan to construct a new plant for a manufacturing firm that wants to consolidate its out-of-state operations in Lehighton.
Heading the delegation is Wilbur Warner, president of the Lehighton Chamber of Commerce.
Deputy Secretary of Commerce John Gross, who discussed the project with the local delegation, said the local group estimates the total cost of the project would be less than $150,000, an amount that he said “would not be too big” for the state agency to fund.
