August 16, 1979 — Tony Ogozalek’s RBI single in the sixth inning breaks a tie game and proves to be the game-winner as Lansford gain a 4-3 victory over Tamaqua to capture the Panther Valley Little League tourament championship. Chris Marcolla doubles in the sixth and races home on Ogozalek’s one-out hit. Marcolla, who finishes with two hits, goes the distance on the mound for the winners, striking out four and walking two. John Shubeck adds an RBI double and scores a run. For Tamaqua, Ed Titus hits a home run and Mike Ambrose and Bill Bynon each collect a pair of hits.
