A look back: Aug. 29, 1994
A Summit Hill man was named an East Coast conversion class champion for displaying his spotless 1965 Buick Skylark at the 1994 Super Chevy Show held at Maple Grove.
Thomas Fredericks was named champion from among 17 other entries in the conversion class, which is for vehicles that have Chevrolet parts. His Skylark has a 454-cubic-inch Chevrolet motor.
The latest win was the 66th time he has won awards for the vehicle, which, incidentally, he has owned for a second time. He owned the vehicle as a young man, selling it before entering the service, and later bought it back in 1973 for a mere $25.
Although it is worth “probably about $25,000,” the vehicle is not for sale, Fredericks said.
