A look back: Sept. 4, 1963

Published September 04. 2019 01:02PM

Summit Hill’s school board voted to move into a jointure to take advantage of new legislation, but did so with reservations.

Whereas Lansford and Coaldale had adopted resolutions to enter into a Lansford-Coaldale-Summit Hill jointure, the Hill directors voted only to unite in joint agreement with one or more other school districts for the formation of a joint school system. They did not specify which towns would be included in their jointure plans.

Director Roy Zimardo voted against the move because he favored a jointure with Lansford but not with Coaldale. Casting affirmative votes were John McCullion, Stanley Kozuch, George Lill and George Heffelfinger.
