Carbon County court — ARD

Four first-time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Thursday by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

Placed were the following:

Jaclyn Ann Bennett, 38, of Nesquehoning, was placed for six months on a charge of theft of services. She was arrested on April 7 by Mahoning Township police for refusing to pay for taxi service provided by the Carbon County Taxi Service.

She was assessed $450 for the cost of the program and ordered to make restitution of $154.40.

Michelle Doyle, 26, of Lansford, was placed for six months on a charge of simple assault. She was arrested on April 13 by Lansford police following a domestic incident in which a male was the victim.

She was assessed $650 and ordered to make restitution to the victim for $188.54.

Matthew James Mokris, 20, of Gilbertsville, Montgomery County, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on April 19 by Lansford police at Abbott and Center streets following a traffic stop.

He was assessed $450 and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment.

Gabrielle Vanessa Parisi, 29, of Lehighton, was placed for a year on a charge of driving under the influence. She was arrested on June 27, 2014, along Route 209 by Franklin Township police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

She was assessed $650, her license was suspended for 60 days and must follow any recommendation of her drug and alcohol evaluation.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
