Man admits assaulting fellow inmate at jail

Published September 18. 2019 12:59PM

A Little Gap man admitted in Carbon County court on Monday to assaulting a fellow inmate at the county prison.

Ryan Keith Dillman, 31, pleaded guilty to one count of simple assault, by mutual consent, for an incident on June 17.

Nesquehoning police were called to the prison by correction officers for an assault incident. Police were told Dillman assaulted another inmate during an incident in a bathroom in the jail.

Dillman told President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II that the victim had struck him first and he was defending himself. Dillman claimed he lost two teeth and had a split lip in the confrontation.

Nanovic told him that is a defense to the charge and he didn’t have to plead to the count, but instead go to trial. After consulting with his court-appointed attorney, Adam R. Weaver, Dillman said he would enter the plea.

Nanovic sentenced him to serve two to 12 months in prison, running concurrently with a sentence he is now serving on a parole violation.
