Walker hears road safety complaints

Published October 07. 2019 12:47PM

Walker Township supervisors on Thursday fielded complaints from several residents regarding safety issues on a township road.

Marie Tennant, a resident of Tamaqua for more than 30 years, provided the board with pictures of a ditch outside her home on Valley Road.

“The town paved the ditches along the street, then stopped at my house,” Tennant said.

David L. Horst, project engineer, revealed that he had stopped by to look at the conditions, and agreed the ditch was an issue. Arrangements have been made to fix the rest of the road.

Resident David Bensinger also expressed concerns regarding conditions near his home on Valley Road.

After Bensinger provided the board with videos and paperwork to review, supervisors agreed to wait until the next meeting to come to a conclusion due to the absence of Supervisor Craig Wagner.

Once all public concerns were addressed, the board spoke to township solicitor Chris Riedlinger and township roadmaster Chad Felty about updates regarding the township’s conditions and the engineer’s report.
