A look back: Oct. 18, 1984
The creation of an assistant principal position for the Jim Thorpe Area School District was tabled last night when the board did not reach a majority vote on the matter.
With two of the nine directors absent, the board voted 4-3 in favor of establishing the post, but solicitor Jean Engler reminded the directorate that five votes are required to create the position.
In favor of establishing the position were William Ackerman, Ruth Mary Behr-Augustine, Sharon Joseph and Juhn Gunsser, while Glenn Confer, Charles McHugh Jr. and Richard Karper were opposed to the move, and Directors Diane Luedtke and Donna Garber were absent.
