Woman, 90, dies after being struck by car in Walnutport

A 90-year-old woman who was struck by a vehicle Friday in Walnutport has died from her injuries.

Dorothy Fosbrook, of Lehigh Township, was involved in a crash at 4 p.m. in front of the Dollar Tree store located at 200 S. Best Ave.

Fosbrook was pronounced dead at 11:05 a.m. Monday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.

Her death was ruled an accident caused by closed head injuries due to the crash, according to the Lehigh County coroner’s office.

Walnutport Police Department, along with the coroner’s office, are investigating the incident.

A real tragedy which could have been prevented, most likely, knowing the fast traffic on Best Ave., especially with the entry from the shopping center which also houses the new Giant store. There is nothing to prevent it from happening again. You've got to be looking both ways more than twice to pull out, including watching out for cars entering from the gas station and post office on the opposite side. Look for a much needed traffic light of some type in the future.
