A look back: Oct. 22, 1982

The fifth annual Schuylkill County Bench and Bar Conference was held this week at Pine View Acres, in Pottsville. The conference, attended by 75 lawyers and judges, is intended to promote good relations between the bench and bar and to provide continuing education for attorneys and judges alike.

The conference was highlighted by the presentation of an award by the Schuylkill County Bar Association President Thomas Nickels to President Judge Guy A. Bowe Jr., for his interest in and assistance to the bar association. In addition, the bar contributed $1,500 to the establishment of a scholarship fund in the judge’s name to Dickinson College School of Law to help finance the legal education of needy law students.
