Carbon County court – ARD

Published October 29. 2019 12:29PM

Six first-time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Thursday by Judge Steven R. Serfass.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete the program, or are revoked from it, they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted:

Dominique Julia Carrelli, 21, of Kunkletown, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. She was arrested on May 26 by state police at Fern Ridge following a vehicle stop along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township.

She was assessed $450 for the cost of the program and must get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment and render 25 hours of community service.

Christopher John Cuccia, 29, of Allentown, was placed on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine. He was arrested on Aug. 4 by Lehighton police following a traffic stop along Route 443.

He was assessed $450 and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.

Kenneth D. Sabol, 60, and Maryanne Sabol, 62, both of Lansford, were placed on charges of possession of a controlled substance, heroin/fentanyl. They were arrested on June 27 by Lansford police along East Bertsch Street as part of an ongoing drug investigation.

Each were assessed $450 and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Melanie Sharbaugh, 44, of Lehighton, was placed for 18 months on a charge of corruption of a minor. She was arrested on May 6, 2018, by Lehighton police following a traffic stop along Route 443. Illegal substances were found in the vehicle along with a juvenile.

She was assessed $650 and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use and render 75 hours of community service.

Lewis James Snyder, 61, of Jim Thorpe, was placed for 18 months on a charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. He was arrested on April 30 by Jim Thorpe police in the area of 1 Broadway.

He was assessed $650 and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use and render 75 hours of community service.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.

Comments
The whole point of the ARD program is to have the alleged crime expunged from your record. Why does the Times News get to publish this if the "public record" will eventually be sealed? In this internet age these people are technically wasting the extra money for ARD and should have plead guilty and taken the sentence. It would have been cheaper trust me.
