A look back: Oct. 30, 1969
“Bocce, bocce” is a game played wherever compatriots of Christopher Columbus are found, wherever there is a Little Italy and where genial Italian men meet in warm-hearted friendship. This does not mean they will not argue about a point. Many a game is settled by the ruler with many judges in attendance.
Members of the St. Gabriel Bocce Club, Summit Hill, gather in the bocce alley located at the end of East Ludlow Street in that community on a regular basis, nearly every Sunday afternoon, for the friendly competition.
Among them are Gregory DeMilio, Pete Pampanin, Bert Castagnola, Julio and Jesento Marcon, Tony DeLuca, Louis Martello, Elario Pavone and Anthony Valentini.
