Man who flees crash scene caught, arrested

Robert Dorward, 47, of Lehighton, is facing multiple charges after he was involved in a crash, left the scene, and fled from police in a foot chase.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said he is facing charges of driving under the influence, hit-and-run and fleeing to avoid apprehension.

The incident happened at 11:19 p.m. Dec. 22 along Strohl's Valley Road, near Anderson Drive, in Towamensing Township.

Police said they were dispatched to a one-car crash, but upon arrival were informed the operator had fled the scene on foot.

Police said they went to the operator's residence where they spotted him behind the home.

A foot pursuit ensued, and Dorward was subsequently apprehended.
