Published November 13. 2019 05:35PM

Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found at a home in Monroe County on Wednesday following a domestic disturbance.

State police were called to a home on Springwood Road in Chestnuthill Township at 9:21 a.m. They received word that shots were fired during the disturbance and a woman had fled the residence.

When troopers arrived, the front door of the home was wide open. Troopers tried to speak with the male involved in the domestic disturbance but he did not respond.

Troopers then set up a perimeter and waited for the state police’s Special Emergency Response Team to arrive. They entered the home and found the male deceased inside.

The female who fled the home was taken by ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono for treatment of a head injury.

The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office and state troopers are continuing to investigate the incident.
