A look back: Nov. 14, 1972
Action was taken by the Summit Hill Borough Council during a special meeting last night to oppose the annexation of any portion of the borough, specifically that portion of land on which the new Panther Valley High School is being built.
The action comes after the Lansford Borough Council, acting on the recommendation of Mayor John Polumbo, last week voted to try to annex the land where the school will be located.
The school site is within Summit Hill borough limits and is referred to as Garland Stadium. Lansford officials contend the borough will be the one called upon to provide fire and police protection to the school.
