Weissport approves art projects

Published November 20. 2019 12:10PM

Weissport residents can now look forward to two exciting new projects and a continuation of a town favorite.

Weissport resident, Dr. Keith Boyer, attended the borough council meeting on Monday with a proposal for two art projects in Weissport: a mural and a sign featuring the town’s name. He also submitted a proposal for the annual Armed Forces Day parade, to be held next May. The council approved all three proposals.

In other news, the borough building is enjoying new updates. New doors were installed on Nov. 12, and a new roof is scheduled for Nov. 23. The borough is also laying the groundwork for the installation of the new playground cameras.

Mayor Paulette Watson commended the Weissport police department again. She said that it was “unbelievable” how quickly new chief of police, Matthew Williams, has “cleaned up” the town. Williams himself thanked Constable James Osbourne for his help with “unruly people.”

Councilman Greg May and solicitor Greg Mousseau were not in attendance.
