A look back: Nov. 20, 1990

Thanks to the Horse head Industries Foundation in Palmerton, the Carbon County Environmental Education Center along the Lentz Trail, Summit Hill, is $7,000 closer to its anticipated goal of expanding upon its headquarters site overlooking the Mauch Chunk Lake Park.

Charles H. Campton, Palmerton mortician, presented the check to officials at the center, saying it was the first installment of a grant of $10,000.

The presentation took place in front of the first phase of the construction project, where a shelter is being built to house injured birds while they undergo periods of rehabilitation before being returned to the wilds.
