November 21, 2009 — Corrine McConville converts on a penalty stroke in overtime to give Lehighton a 1-0 victory over Selinsgrove in the PIAA Class 2A state field hockey championship game. A scoring opportunity by Vanessa Rimbey results in a collision with the Seals’ goalie and results in the penalty shot. McConville hits the bottom right corner of the cage to set off a celebration and give the Indians the school’s first-ever state title. The victory, Lehighton’s sixth straight shutout, allows the team — coached by Shawn Hindy — to finish with a perfect 26-0 record.
